Post #28: Cyber Monday

Today is Cyber Monday.  Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. The term was coined by Ellen Davisand and made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year".
Today I want you go out to your favorite shopping website and find a Cyber Monday bargain.  Describe the item and post a picture of it on your post. Is the item something you want or is it something you want to buy for someone else.
When you are finished with your post, go out to 5 other blogs and leave comments, then go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled "Shift Key and Capitalization."

Post #27: My Ideal Thanksgiving

Today I want you to describe your idea of a perfect Thanksgiving.  Where would you spend it? Who would be with you?  What would you do?  Would you eat traditional Thanksgiving food or something more modern? Describe for me your perfect Thanksgiving day.  When you are done, go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled "Easy Bottom Row Words".  Everyone needs to be done with the blog and typing by 1:30.  At 1:30 go to Google Classroom and open the "Searching Strategies" assignment... Today you will complete a NearPod lesson on your computer on "Search Strategies".  When you are done with the NearPod lesson, you may have free time.

Post #26: Turkey Tweets

Pretend that you are a turkey who has a Twitter account and loves to tweet. Write 5 tweets to your followers about your feelings on Thanksgiving. Remember Twitter is 140 character or less. 

Try something new this year. #ThanksgivingHam

When you are finished with your blog go out to other student blogs and check out their Turkey Tweets.  Finally, go to Typing Web and take a 5 min. Typing Test.

Post #25: Veteran's Day Speech

Hearing rousing speeches to honor the military is a frequent occurrence on Veteran's Day. What do you think are some of the important elements of a Veteran's Day speech? Who would be a good candidate to make such a speech and why?

Post #23: If and when I raise children, I'll never...

Today I want you to finish this thought, "If and when I raise children, I'll never... " Tell me what you will never do as a parent and why.  Is it something that your parents do now?  How does it make you feel?  Remember five sentences minimum and include a picture.  After you are done go to five other blogs and make a comment.  When you are done with the blog go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled, "Common English Words".   At 1:45 we will start our lesson on Google Forms.  I will explain your assignment later.

Post #22: Election Day--Why is Voting Important?

You may not realize it, but the first Tuesday in November is always election day in the United States. In 5-6 more years you will be eligible to vote in your first election.  Today I want you to answer a few questions about the election process... 1) Why do we hold elections? 2) What would America be like without a voting system? 3) Why is it important for people vote in elections?  4) The minimum voting age is 18 in the U.S.  Do you think there should be a minimum age to vote?

After you have completed your blog go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled "Beginner Wrap-Up".  You can finish up your Pixlr assignment when you are finished with Typing Web.
