On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to obey a bus driver's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger.  Rosa Park's quiet and courageous act of defiance became an important symbol of the Civil Rights Movement and the resistance to racial segregation. Today is Cyber Monday.  Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. The term was coined by Ellen Davisand and made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year".
Today I want you go out to your favorite shopping website and find a Cyber Monday bargain.  Describe the item and post a picture of it on your post. Is the item something you want or is it something you want to buy for someone else.
When you are finished with your post, go out to 5 other blogs and leave comments, then go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled "Shift Key and Capitalization."

Today I want you to describe your idea of a perfect Thanksgiving.  Where would you spend it? Who would be with you?  What would you do?  Would you eat traditional Thanksgiving food or something more modern? Pretend that you are a turkey who has a Twitter account and loves to tweet. Write 5 tweets to your followers about your feelings on Thanksgiving. Remember Twitter is 140 character or less.

Hearing rousing speeches to honor the military is a frequent occurrence on Veteran's Day. What do you think are some of the important elements of a Veteran's Day speech? Who would be a good candidate to make such a speech and why?

You may not realize it, but the first Tuesday in November is always election day in the United States. In 5-6 more years you will be eligible to vote in your first election.  Today I want you to answer a few questions about the election process... 1) Why do we hold elections? 2) What would America be like without a voting system? 3) Why is it important for people vote in elections?  4) The minimum voting age is 18 in the U.S.  Do you think there should be a minimum age to vote?

After you have completed your blog go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled "Beginner Wrap-Up".  You can finish up your Pixlr assignment when you are finished with Typing Web.

Please let the class know where you heard the story/joke or who told you the story/joke. Today you will tell the world about your favorite ice cream. With all the flavors in the world what is the ultimate ice cream you would choose to eat if you had the chance? What Ice cream flavor would you invent if you had the chance? Have fun, be inventive, anything goes. Remember to have number and title your Post, at least 1 picture, and 5 comments.

Cereal Companies try to entice customers by placing all kinds of prizes in their boxes: toys, gadgets, and games are just a few examples. If you could find any prize, what surprise would you like to find in a cereal box?  Why? Remember it has to fit in a cereal box!!! Use your imagination and have fun with this one.  Don't forget 5 & 5: Five sentences minimum and then comment on five other blogs (be respectful/kind). 

After you have finished to to Typing Web and login.  Your username is firstnamelastname001. Your password is your ID #.  Once you have logged in take a typing test, then complete the first lesson "F, J and Space Bar".

Post #8: What's for Dinner?

If you could have anything for dinner what would it be? Steak? Pizza? Lobster? Pretend that you have to cook dinner for your family and you have to plan the menu, tell me "What's for Dinner?" Tell me the main dish, side dish, dessert, beverages that you would serve at tonight's meal. You may also include how you would make your food, or what you would have to do to get ready to bring it to your table. Remember, 5 sentences, title, picture, and 5 comments on other students blogs. Have fun with this one, anything is possible.

When you are done with your blog go to Typing Club and take a TYPING TEST.   Later  (around 1:30) we will work on Google Docs.  You will have a Google Docs Challenge Assignment today.
